How many people suffering, on drugs, facing a life of limitation could be helped by chiropractic care?

Probably most of them.

Hearing loss in a six-year-old boyhearing loss

A six-year-old boy with diagnosed mild to moderate hearing loss was brought in for care. He was falling behind in class and his speech was difficult to understand. Tympanostomy (ear tube insertion) was recommended.

The child was examined, found to have vertebral subluxations and adjusted.

He had 12 chiropractic visits/adjustments. Hearing, speech and school performance improved following chiropractic care and his hearing was reclassified to normal.

Additionally, he caught up with his class by the end of the third term of school and his speech improved.

Researching Chiropractic: Solutions to Common Problems

How many people suffering, on drugs, facing a life of limitation could be helped by chiropractic care?  Probably most of them.

Lower back pain after deliveryhypothyroid

A 33-year-old woman presented for chiropractic consultation and care with chronic low back pain. The pain began after a pregnancy approximately three years prior, after she had a C-section.

X-ray analysis showed subluxation/displacement of her pelvis (sacrum). She had two chiropractic care visits. After the first sacral adjustment the next X-ray revealed a 72% correction of the sacral subluxation and she had complete relief of her symptoms. (1)

Bedwetting and ear infections

A 12-year-old girl had years of bedwetting and recurring ear infections (otitis media). Five sets of tubes (tympanostomy) were placed in her ears with no benefit.

Her chiropractic examination revealed subluxations of the upper neck (C2, C4), mid back (T5-8), hips and sacrum.

After two chiropractic adjustments, she woke to use the restroom during the night, which was unusual. After 1½ months and nine adjustments her bedwetting was less frequent. Additionally, she hadn’t had an episode of ear infections in the 1½ years she had been under care. (2)

Hypothyroidism

A 49-year-old man with neck, back and shoulder pain began chiropractic care. Three years earlier his MD diagnosed him with hypothyroidism and prescribed Synthroid®.

His spine was analyzed and adjusted using chiropractic techniques and although there were no changes in his lifestyle, diet or exercise levels his blood tests revealed his thyroid TSH blood levels returned to normal range. His need for synthetic thyroid hormone decreased. His cervical curve additionally improved and his neck, back and shoulder pain resolved. (3)

Researching Chiropractic: Lupus

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)lupus

There seems to be no limit to the health problems that respond to chiropractic care. How many people suffering, on drugs, facing a life of limitation could be helped by chiropractic care?

Probably most of them.

A 34-year-old woman with SLE went to a chiropractic office for detection of subluxations. Her symptoms included constant chronic pain; constant fibromyalgia-related symptoms; chronic fatigue, anxiety and depression-related symptoms; stiffness in the neck; thyroid problems; menstrual disorder; stomach disorder; mid back pain; irritable bowel; numbness in her feet; low back pain and leg pains.

Using chiropractic analysis, several vertebral subluxation complexes were located.

She received 11 spinal adjustments over the first twelve visits and upon re-examination, she was “much improved.” Her right and left leg pain and numbness in her feet completely resolved and her menstrual disorder completely resolved. In addition, her stomach disorder, irritable bowel syndrome symptoms, systemic lupus erythematosus related symptoms and ADD/ADHD related symptoms were much improved. At her next re-examination, her Raynaud’s, systemic lupus erythematosus, depression and nausea were all completely resolved. She also stopped taking seven medications including hydrocodone, tramadol, flexeril, gabapentin and Wellbutrin®.

Her blood work revealed resolution of systemic lupus erythematosus. (1)

Researching Chiropractic: Heart rate variability

Heart rate variabilityWhat is heart rate variability?

The timing between heart beats should vary beat-to-beat. That is called heart rate variability (HRV). The more HRV, the greater a person’s health. Low HRV has been linked to physical and emotional dis-ease or body malfunction.

Heart rate variability has been used to evaluate the nervous system

Analysis of the beat-to-beat intervals (heart rate variability) has been used to evaluate the nervous system balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic divisions. Analysis of beat-to- beat variability is a simple, non-invasive technique to evaluate autonomic dysfunction and may be a tool to assess the changes in autonomic activity associated with the reduction and correction of vertebral subluxations. A search of the relevant literature found that some controlled studies suggest that very thing: chiropractic care may improve heart rate variability in a positive way – meaning that nervous system function improves.

The author writes, “Vertebral subluxations may result in altered autonomic nervous system activity. Heart rate variability is a reliable and valid tool that may be used to assess the changes in autonomic activity associated with the reduction and correction of vertebral subluxations.” (1)

Researching Chiropractic: Placental insufficiency

Placental insufficiency and fetal growth restrictionPlacental insufficiency

There seems to be no limit to the health problems that respond to chiropractic care. How many people suffering, on drugs, facing a life of limitation could be helped by chiropractic care?

Probably most of them.

A 29-year-old female, who was 32 weeks pregnant, presented for chiropractic care because she was concerned about a diagnosis of placental insufficiency and delayed fetal growth that was given after an ultrasound examination. There is no medical treatment for this condition.

However, chiropractic analysis revealed subluxations in her cervical spine (neck), sacrum and pelvis. She had eight visits over a three-week period to correct her subluxations. On the day after her first visit she had another ultrasound that revealed normal placental blood flow and normal fetal growth rate. She was able to carry the baby to 37 weeks permitting the fetus 3 to 4 more weeks of growth. (1)

Researching Chiropractic: Hypothyroidism

There seems to be no limit to the health problems that respond to chiropractic care. How many people suffering, on drugs, facing a life of limitation could be helped by chiropractic care?

Probably most of them.

Hypothyroidism and irritable bowel, lower backhypothyroidism

A 34-year-old woman visited a chiropractic office complaining of low back, hip and upper back pain. She also reported that she was medically diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome and secondary hypothyroidism.

Chiropractic analysis revealed subluxations that were causing nervous system imbalance (dysautonomia). Chiropractic adjustments corrected her subluxations. After two months of care, the patient’s thyroid function test showed improvement and she was able to stop her medication. Additionally, she reported improvement in her irritable bowel syndrome, low back, hip and upper back pain. (1)
