What part of your body does this?

It deactivates drugs – without it, a few ounces of alcohol could keep you drunk for life; a moment’s adrenaline rush would go on and on; pharmaceuticals would never stop altering your body chemistry.

It helps life-sustaining nutrients to get to your cells.

It converts food into nutrients.

It stores fats, sugars, iron, and vitamins for later use by the body

It is the most amazing juggler in existence – creating and balancing over 13,000 chemicals and hormones.

It keeps your blood sugar levels within a safe margin and balances vitamins and minerals so your bones will stay strong and won’t deteriorate.

It clears out inhaled, swallowed, or absorbed (through the skin) toxins, chemicals, and pollution. Without this constant detoxification of waste and toxins, you’d be dead in less than a day.

It works 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and doesn’t take off for holidays.

With the exception of your skin, it is the largest organ in your body and performs more than 500 functions to keep you healthy.

Untitled design - 2021-10-14T104246.096

If you guessed your liver……… go to the head of the class.

When your liver is not functioning properly you may feel sluggish and possibly nauseous. Many of your organs are affected by an unhealthy liver – your eyes can be bloodshot, you can have bad breath, abdominal bloating, poor digestion, fatigue, a coated tongue, a sluggish metabolism, excessive body heat, sugar cravings, and inability to lose weight. A sluggish liver stresses the kidney, heart, and brain.

This is one very important organ.

An important way to keep your liver healthy is to make sure your spine is healthy. Why? Because your liver, as well as your other organs, needs constant communications from your spine. A subluxation could block essential communications between your brain and body, potentially affecting liver function.

Researching Chiropractic: High Blood Pressure, Migraines, Edema, Back Pain

Chiropractic clinical case histories have been a regular feature of our patient newsletter since its inception. There seems to be no limit to the health problems that respond to chiropractic care. How many people suffering, on drugs, facing a life of limitation could be helped by chiropractic care?

Probably most of them.

High blood pressure and migraineUntitled design - 2021-09-16T172508.024

The patient was a 25-year-old woman with medically diagnosed hypertension. She also had symptoms of migraine headaches occurring two times per week. Her blood pressure was 134/98 mmHg at the initial examination.

An upper cervical subluxation was detected on her cervical (neck) X-rays. Her muscle nerve status, leg length, posture, and blood pressure were monitored every visit.

After 12 weeks of care, the patient experienced a significant decrease in blood pressure to 114/80 mmHg. She also experienced a significant decrease in both frequency and severity of migraine headache symptoms. (1)

Breastfeeding and latching difficultyUntitled design - 2021-09-16T172618.477

A four-week-old baby girl was brought in for chiropractic care by her mother who was concerned about the child’s inability to effectively latch onto her left breast when held in the traditional cradle position.

Multiple subluxations with spasm and tenderness were found at the sacrum (bottom of the spine), the fifth thoracic (mid-back) vertebrae (T5), the atlas (C1 or upper neck), and right TMJ.

Following an adjustment to the atlas and TMJ there was increased right rotation of the infant’s head and a decrease in left head tilt. Breastfeeding was attempted immediately after the adjustment with success and no further issues remained. The mother reported her daughter was able to latch perfectly and nursed without interruption for 30 minutes. The mother returned the next week and reported total resolution of the infant’s inability to latch on her left breast. (2)

Edema and lower back pain in pregnancyUntitled design - 2021-09-16T172703.488

A 28-year-old pregnant (33 weeks) woman began chiropractic care. She complained of tingling and numbness in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th fingers on her right hand. She also reported low back pain and right leg swelling, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, and two previous miscarriages.

She received chiropractic adjustments for 9 weeks. Her presenting complaints were completely resolved within that time and she delivered successfully at term. (3)

Crying, screaming 6-week-old babyUntitled design (64)

A 6-week-old girl was brought in for chiropractic care by her mother. She said her child frequently cried and screamed, slept poorly, favored her right shoulder, and had feeding difficulties.

After her first adjustment, the baby immediately relaxed; the mother reported her daughter slept for six hours that night. In addition, she fed equally on the left and right sides, no longer cried inconsolably, and was able to lie on her back without extreme discomfort. (1)

Pervasive developmental disorderUntitled design (65)

A 33-month-old boy diagnosed with a pervasive developmental disorder (PDD) and sensory processing disorder (SPD) had developmental delays in communication, speech, cognitive function, gross and fine motor skills, “fist walking,” and bruxism (grinding teeth). He also lacked social and emotional development as well as self-help skills.

Since medically there is no cure, he was prescribed ADD medications, antidepressants, anti-seizure medication, and antipsychotic medication to treat his symptoms.

Chiropractic care consisted of the location and correction of subluxations. After ten months his language skills had improved greatly and his sensory processing issues had reduced (“he seems much more comfortable in his personal space”). In addition, his bruxism reduced, he was no longer “fist walking” and he had stopped swaying and rocking, His mother reported that he was also beginning to read at a level above his age and his social skills improved. Trigeminal neuralgia (tic douloureux)Untitled design (66)

A 77-year-old woman who had been suffering from severe right-sided trigeminal neuralgia (TN) for seven years went to a chiropractor for care. Her TN pain was only initially helped by medication and was made worse by chewing, talking, and smiling. When her symptoms were their worst, she was unable to eat or talk well for 4 days.

Initially, she rated her pain 10 out of 10; describing it as a constant hot, throbbing, burning sensation that progressively gets worse. Subluxations at C1 and other segments were located and adjusted. After six visits the patient saw a significant reduction in pain. After four months she went off her medication and at 6 months was pain-free. (3)

Researching Chiropractic: Gastroesophageal Reflux & Behavioral Issues

There seems to be no limit to the health problems that respond to chiropractic care. How many people suffering, on drugs, facing a life of limitation could be helped by chiropractic care?

Probably most of them.

Do you know anyone suffering from the following issues? Chiropractic care can help – here’s the proof!

Gastroesophageal reflux diseasehappy baby no colic

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is common during the first year of life, peaking at 4 months of age. In this case, a 4-month-old baby girl with gastro-esophageal reflux disease and plagiocephaly, a flattening of parts of the skull, was brought by her mother for chiropractic care. The mother reported the child had multiple episodes of reflux and vomiting per day.

Subluxations were found and adjusted in the child’s neck (C2 and C4 vertebrae), lower lumbar (L4) vertebra, and sacroiliac joints.

The day after the first chiropractic visit that included spinal and cranial care the mother reported that her daughter had a large bowel movement and a longer than normal sleep. The child continued to receive chiropractic care twice a week for two weeks and then once a week for the next four weeks. By the second visit, the mother reported that the vomiting and reflux had decreased. Over the next 3 weeks, both the number of episodes per day and the number of days with vomiting and reflux decreased. By three weeks of care, the child had no more reflux or vomiting. In addition, her skull flattening had disappeared

Improved behavior in a 10-year-old boyChiropractic for Better School Performance

A 10-year-old boy would exhibit dramatic behavioral changes from a calm manner to suddenly becoming violent. He was also reported to have difficulty sleeping due to emotional detachment disorder and frequently suffered from panic attacks. His behavioral instability caused him to be suspended from school.

He was brought in for chiropractic care. He received adjustments to correct upper cervical, thoracic and lumbopelvic subluxations. His behavior and violent outbursts dramatically improved after 8 chiropractic adjustments. Further improvements were noticed with sleep and anxiety

Reflux, irritability, and more in 7-month-old boystwins-1169064_1920

This is the case of two seven-month-old premature fraternal twin boys with chronic reflux, breastfeeding difficulties, general irritability, excessive crying, skull distortion, and premature closing of the cranial sutures.

The children received spinal and cranial adjustments. After 8 weeks of chiropractic care, the mother reported a decrease in the severity of the twins’ reflux, lessened breastfeeding difficulties, and decreased irritability. After 16 weeks of chiropractic care, the twins’ reflux had ceased and their cranial symmetry had markedly improved.

Painful menstrual cramps, shoulder pain, and poor sleep. Untitled design (28)

Painful menstrual cramping (dysmenorrhea) affects the majority of women some time in their lives. This is the case of a 37-year-old woman suffering severe menstrual, shoulder, and low back pain who sought chiropractic care.

Chiropractic analysis found subluxations at the atlas or C1 (top of the neck and base of the skull), T8 (mid-back area), L1 (upper lumbar area), and sacrum. She had care three times a week for three weeks, then two times a week for 14 weeks.

She reported better sleep as well as a reduction in low back and shoulder pain almost immediately. After a while, she stopped having debilitating menstrual cramps and no longer had to take days off from work. Her cycle, which had been five days, decreased to three days. (1)

Failure to thrivepremie

A 13-day-old baby boy was brought in by his distraught parents due to failure to thrive, which can be fatal. He had lost 27 ounces since birth and his parents were providing around-the-clock care to keep him alive. He was crying most of the time. When the mother attempted to nurse him, the baby would detach from the breast or would fall asleep quickly. The mother described her son as lethargic and with a very weak cry. Medical doctors had nothing to offer.

Chiropractic care consisted of upper cervical (neck) adjustments and a left hard palate adjustment. His sacrum was also corrected. After the first visit, his mother noticed that her baby was able to nurse for a full 45 minutes without “popping off.” She cried due to overwhelming emotions when she explained that the pain she had been feeling was gone and she felt hope for the first time since her child was born.

After three months of care, his weight had doubled, exceeding the standard set by the Mayo Clinic of doubling birth weight by five months old. (2)

Acid reflux, feeding difficulties, and sleep disturbance in an infant. crying baby

A 7-week-old prematurely born baby boy had been born by Caesarean section. He had acid reflux, problems swallowing, difficulty sleeping, problems latching, and was spitting up after feeding. Subluxations were located and corrected. He received nine chiropractic adjustments over 11 weeks to the cervical (neck), thoracic (mid-back), and sacral (lower) regions of his spine. The acid reflux, feeding difficulties, and sleep disturbances were resolved by the second adjustment. Chiropractic clinical case histories have been a regular feature of our patient newsletter since its inception. There seems to be no limit to the health problems that respond to chiropractic care. How many people suffering, on drugs, facing a life of limitation could be helped by chiropractic care?

Probably most of them.

Birth trauma and brachial plexus injurystroke

A mother brought her five-month-old son with severely limited left arm movement to a chiropractor. She reported a healthy pregnancy but difficult labor and delivery; her son was breech and experienced birth trauma. An episiotomy and forceful pulling on his head and neck were performed in the delivery process.

Chiropractic was utilized as appropriate for the age and size of the patient. The infant gained full motion of his left arm within the two months of chiropractic care and the mother stated that her son may even have a tendency to be left-handed. (1)

Hourly bowel movements in a 98-year old old woman

A 98-year-old man complaining of frequent, nightly bowel movements began chiropractic care. He reported no bowel problems during the daytime but at night he had to get up to defecate nearly every hour, up to 8-9 times a night.

The patient was diagnosed with adverse mechanical cord tension, cervical (neck) vertebral subluxation, coccyx subluxation, and a twisted pelvis. After one month of care (12 visits), the patient’s nightly, frequent bowel movements were completely resolved. (2)

Headaches from a sports injuryspring resoutions

A 12-year-old girl suffered from headaches after a collision during a lacrosse game. She received three upper cervical (upper neck) adjustments to her atlas (C-1) vertebra over a period of five visits within 28 days. Not only did her headaches disappear but her scoliosis (spinal curves) also improved. (3)

A 4-month-old baby girl with GERD was brought by her mother for chiropractic care. The mother reported the child had multiple episodes of reflux and vomiting per day. She received chiropractic and cranial care and her mother reported a large bowel movement and a longer than normal sleep the day after the 1st visit. The baby continued care 2x/week for 2 weeks and 1x/week for the next 4 weeks. By the second visit, her mother reported that the vomiting and reflux had decreased. Within 3 weeks she had no more reflux or vomiting. (1)

Improved behavior, a reduction in violent outbreaks in a 10-year-old boy. child-2844209_1920

This is the case of a 10-year-old boy with behavioral issues, including dramatic changes from a calm manner to suddenly violent actions. He was also reported to have difficulty sleeping due to emotional detachment disorder and frequently suffered from panic attacks.

His mother also reported that he had difficulty noticing when he was sufficiently full following eating. His behavioral volatility caused him to be suspended from school.  Upper cervical, thoracic and lumbopelvic subluxations were discovered in this case. He received spinal adjustments. His changes were recorded through the Measure Yourself Medical Outcome Profile (MYMOP) questionnaires over the course of his treatment. A reduction in an MYMOP score of 6/6 to 16/6 for behavior and violent outbreaks was measured after 8 adjustments. Further improvements were noticed with sleep and anxiety, as well as a dramatically improved awareness of feeling full after eating. (2)

This is the case of two seven-month-old premature fraternal twin boys with chronic reflux, breastfeeding difficulties, general irritability, excessive crying, plagiocephaly, and scaphocephaly who were presented by their mother for chiropractic care. The children received spinal and cranial adjustments and after 8 weeks of care, the mother reported a decrease in the severity of the twins’ reflux, breastfeeding difficulties, and irritability. At 16 weeks of chiropractic care, the twins’ reflux had ceased and their cranial symmetry had markedly improved. (3)

Morton’s neuroma. woman-3213761_1920

Morton’s neuroma is a nerve tumor in the foot. It is a painful condition that people describe as “walking on a marble.” It usually affects the ball of the foot, often between the 3rd and 4th toes, and feels like a sharp, burning pain. The toes also may sting, burn, or feel numb. The medical or podiatric approach is to give corticosteroid (cortisone) injections or perform surgery to cut out the tumor.
This is the case of a 63-year-old woman who suffered from Morton’s neuroma in her right foot for ten years. She sought chiropractic care for a variety of health complaints. For one month her vertebral subluxations were addressed and reduced using specific chiropractic care. During this period her Morton’s neuroma symptoms completely disappeared and in addition, she reported improvement in her digestion, sleep, and ability to move without pain. (4)

Failure to thrive, oral thrush, and inconsolable crying in a 4-month-old. baby-821625_1920

The baby was medically diagnosed with “Failure to thrive” (FTT) because her weight or size was significantly below that of other children of similar age and gender.  She was reported to have had birth trauma from a nuchal cord-the umbilical cord was completely wrapped around her neck (360 degrees). The child was 4-months-old when she was brought to the chiropractor. She was suffering from inconsolable crying, oral thrush (an overgrowth of the fungus candida Albicans in the mouth and throat), chronic diarrhea and she was dangerously
underweight.

Chiropractic examination detected vertebral subluxations at C1-C4 (upper neck) and T3-T4 (upper back). The child received chiropractic adjustments from the first visit and afterward was checked for vertebral subluxations that were corrected when indicated for seven weeks.
Her FTT symptoms began to resolve after the first visit and completely resolved by the seventh week of care. (5)

Hypothyroidism reduction under chiropractic care.

A 44-year-old woman was complaining of upper shoulder pain and pain between her shoulder blades after a motor vehicle accident. The accident had occurred 23 years earlier! She had also been taking Armour® Thyroid in order to treat symptoms of smiling-4654734_1920low thyroid function (hypothyroidism). Her spinal X-rays revealed an 80.7% loss of normal neck curve (hyperlordosis) in addition to vertebral subluxations.
She received spinal adjustments over a seven-month period to reduce her subluxations and to improve her spinal and postural alignment.

Thirty days into care she began exhibiting symptoms of an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism). Her chiropractor suggested that she have her thyroid function checked by her endocrinologist to see if her prescribed thyroid medication should be re-evaluated. After evaluation, the patient’s endocrinologist instructed her to significantly reduce the taking of her thyroid medication. Researching Chiropractic: Strength Building, Failure to Thrive, Thyroid Issues

Chiropractic makes you stronger. We know that professional and amateur athletes love chiropractic. Now there is a simple study showing that chiropractic makes you stronger. In this study grip strength was recorded for 100 male and female patients before and after chiropractic care. The results were statistically significant.

In this study 95% of the patients had a more than 5% increase in grip strength immediately after chiropractic care. A majority (31%) of the patients showed between 11-15% increase in grip strength; some had over 40% increase and one patient’s strength increased by 85%!

From the paper: Removal of vertebral subluxation can lead to improved motor function, better body function and healthier well-being. (1)

Failure to thrive, oral thrush and inconsolable crying in a 4-month-old. The baby was medically diagnosed with “failure to thrive” (FTT) and MDs recommended surgical insertion of feeding tubes (i.e. gastrostomy) into the baby’s stomach. The mother refused and sought alternative care.

At 4-months-old the baby was brought to the chiropractor. In addition to FTT she suffered from inconsolable crying, chronic diarrhea and was dangerously underweight. Chiropractic examination detected vertebral subluxations at C1-C4 (upper neck) and T3-T4 (upper back) that were adjusted on the first visit.

Following the first visit, she slept a few hours continuously, without waking up and crying. After three visits she stopped arching in extension and screaming and her stools were becoming a normal color and well-formed. Eventually, she was sleeping through the night and was notably a happier baby, consistently gaining in strength and health each week. The child did not have the gastrostomy surgery.

Five years later the child was healthy and well-developed. (2)

Hypothyroidism reduction. A 44-year-old woman with upper shoulder pain and pain between the shoulder blades that occurred after a motor vehicle accident 23 years earlier sought chiropractic care. She also suffered from low-thyroid function (hypothyroidism) and was taking Armour ThyroidT. Spinal X-rays revealed a significant loss of normal neck curve (hypo-lordosis) in addition to vertebral subluxations.

She received spinal adjustments to reduce her vertebral subluxation complexes (VSC). In addition to improvement in her pain, she began exhibiting signs/symptoms of an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism). Her endocrinologist found improved thyroid function and instructed her to significantly reduce her thyroid medication. (3)

Taking Out Adenoids Does NOT Help Ear Infections

Removal of the adenoids, often associated with swollen tonsils, is the first surgical treatment for many babies and young children. Although recommended for ear infections, it is not effective. (4) If your child is suffering from ear infections bring him/her in for a chiropractic checkup and adjustment so you may avoid drugs and surgery.

Hypothyroidism reduction under chiropractic care. back-5163495_1920

After a motor vehicle accident a 44-year-old woman suffered from upper trapezius (upper shoulder) and inter-scapular pain (pain between the shoulder blades) for 23 years! In addition, she had been prescribed Armour® Thyroid in order to treat symptoms of low thyroid function (hypothyroidism).
X-rays of her neck revealed a 80.7% loss of normal neck curve (hypo-lordosis) in addition to vertebral subluxations. The patient received spinal adjustments to reduce her subluxations and to improve her spinal and postural alignment over a seven-month period. Thirty days into care the patient began exhibiting signs/symptoms of an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism). After serum lab evaluation, the patient’s endocrinologist instructed the patient to significantly reduce her thyroid medication. In addition, her shoulder and scapular pains gradually disappeared. Constipation in a three-year old. girl-996635_1920

A three-year-old suffered from constipation for one year, needing laxatives in order to have a bowel movement. She would have no bowel movements on her own. After 4-5 days her parents would give her laxatives. Chiropractic examination included spinal thermography, postural analysis, supine leg length comparison, range of motion, static and motion palpation of her spine. She was diagnosed with vertebral subluxations of the cervical region with related dysautonomia.

Chiropractic adjustments were utilized to correct the cervical subluxations. After two office visits, the toddler started having daily bowel movements. Within a three-month period of weekly chiropractic visits and adjustments, her constipation resolved completely. (2)

Researching Chiropractic: Back pain, developmental delay, constipation

There seems to be no limit to the health problems that respond to chiropractic care. How many people suffering, on drugs, facing a life of limitation could be helped by chiropractic care?

Probably most of them.

Pregnant mom with back painpregnant case study

A 28-year-old mother who was 31 weeks into her 2nd pregnancy visited a chiropractor complaining of low back and right sacroiliac joint pain. She said her pain began one week after picking up her 2-year-old child. She was cared for once a week for 3 weeks. Her low back and sacroiliac pains disappeared and she also showed improved hip and spine mobility. (1)

Developmental delay

A 15-month-old girl had lack of muscle tone and developmental delay. She was unable to pull herself up to standing, walk unassisted or communicate appropriately for her age level.  After eight months of chiropractic care the child was able to pull herself up to standing, walk unassisted and had become more verbal using words appropriate for her developmental age. Constipation

A 3 ½-year-old girl suffered from chronic constipation. Subluxations were located in her cervical (neck), thoracic (mid back), lumbar (low back) and sacroiliac (hip) regions.  The girl received chiropractic care. Within three weeks, she experienced complete resolution of the constipation and was fully potty-trained. (3)
